ART MEETS FUNCTION IN INGLEWOOD

20 public art garbage bins by Michael Perks

If you’re going to be walking down the streets in Inglewood this summer you won’t be able to miss the new ‘recycling centers’ going in.  Funded by Nestle Waters and initiated by the Inglewood BRZ, Michael Perks & Little Monkey Metal Works were commissioned to create 20 public art garbage bins.  The bins feature artwork by Michael Perks and consist of four different designs and color.  “We worked closely with the Inglewood BRZ to come up with concepts and images that are reflective of the community and their spirit”, says Michael.  On the front side the bins also feature three deposits for garbage, paper and bottles.  “It’s pretty cool to get to create art pieces that also serve a purpose.  My hat’s off to the BRZ for having the vision and commitment to support local art and talent.”   The bins are scheduled to be installed sometime in July.
